In short: Mega Millions is America's other billion-dollar lottery, rebuilt in April 2025 around a US$5 ticket with a 2X–10X multiplier on every non-jackpot prize and a US$50M starting jackpot. In Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines it draws at 11:00am every Wednesday and Saturday, moving to noon from 4 Nov 2026. Players in Asia buy in through a ticket messenger such as theLotter or a lottery-betting site such as Lottoland.

Mega Millions draw time in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines

Mega Millions is drawn at 11:00pm Eastern Time every Tuesday and Friday, broadcast from WSB-TV in Atlanta. Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines share UTC+8, so the draw lands late morning the next day in all three countries.

US draw (ET) Day in SGT / MYT / PHT Time until 31 Oct 2026 Time from 4 Nov 2026
Tuesday 11:00pm Wednesday 11:00am 12:00pm (noon)
Friday 11:00pm Saturday 11:00am 12:00pm (noon)

Worked example: the Friday 30 October US draw lands at 11:00am SGT on Saturday 31 October, the last one on US daylight saving time. The US clocks go back on Sunday 1 November, so the next draw (Tuesday 3 November in the US) lands at 12:00pm SGT on Wednesday 4 November, and noon it stays until March 2027.

It’s a lunch-break lottery for Asia: buy the night before, check the numbers over lunch on Wednesday or Saturday. Our lottery draw times in Asia page has every other draw too.

How Mega Millions works since the 2025 overhaul

Mega Millions changed on 5 April 2025, and many older guides still describe the old game. Today:

  • Pick 5 white balls from 1–70 and 1 gold Mega Ball from 1–24. The Mega Ball pool shrank from 25 to 24 in the overhaul.
  • Every line costs US$5. The price includes a multiplier, so the old optional Megaplier is retired.
  • A random multiplier (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X) applies to every non-jackpot prize on your ticket.
  • The jackpot starts at US$50 million (since 8 April 2025) and has no cap.
  • Annuity winners get 30 payments, each 5% larger than the last. Winners can also take a smaller cash lump sum.

If a page quotes a US$2 ticket, a Megaplier or jackpot odds of 1 in 302,575,350, it’s describing the pre-2025 game. Cutting the Mega Ball pool to 24 is what improved the jackpot odds to 1 in 290,472,336.

Mega Millions odds and prizes

The jackpot odds are 1 in 290,472,336, and any prize comes along about once every 23 lines. The smallest prize, the Mega Ball on its own, hits about once in 35 lines and pays US$10–US$50. The full table sits below this guide.

Worked example: your US$5 line matches 4 white balls plus the Mega Ball. The base prize is US$10,000, so you win US$20,000 with the minimum 2X, US$30,000 with 3X, and US$100,000 if the multiplier is 10X. Match all 5 white balls and the same maths turns US$1M into anything from US$2M to US$10M.

One exception: in California, non-jackpot prizes are paid on a pari-mutuel basis, so they can differ from the fixed amounts in the table.

Mega Millions vs Powerball

Both draws offer billion-dollar jackpots at almost the same odds. The difference is price and prize shape.

Mega Millions Powerball
Price per line US$5 (multiplier built in) US$2 (+US$1 Power Play)
Jackpot odds 1 in 290,472,336 1 in 292,201,338
Any prize about 1 in 23.07 1 in 24.87
Starting jackpot US$50M US$20M
Record jackpot US$1.602B (Aug 2023) US$2.04B (Nov 2022)
Draws in SGT/MYT/PHT Wed, Sat 11:00am Tue, Thu, Sun 10:59am

On a US$20 budget at face value, you get 4 Mega Millions lines or 10 Powerball lines (6 with Power Play). More Powerball lines give you more jackpot chances; each Mega Millions line pays more when you hit a mid-tier prize. Lots of Asian players simply play both, since the draws fall on different days.

The record: US$1.602 billion

The biggest Mega Millions jackpot was US$1.602 billion, won by a single ticket sold in Neptune Beach, Florida, in the 8 August 2023 draw. With a US$50M floor and no cap, the jackpot regularly climbs into the hundreds of millions between wins.

How to play Mega Millions online from Singapore, Malaysia or the Philippines

There are no official Mega Millions outlets in Southeast Asia, so you play through an online service:

  1. theLotter: a ticket messenger. It buys an official Mega Millions ticket on your behalf and scans it to your account before the draw.
  2. Lottoland: lottery betting. You bet on the official result and Lottoland pays prizes itself, with jackpots insured. It’s licensed in Gibraltar and by the UK Gambling Commission.

Then:

  1. Sign up and check your country is accepted at sign-up. We couldn’t confirm acceptance for every Southeast Asian country.
  2. Compare the price per line at checkout, since online prices include a fee or margin on top of the US$5.
  3. Pick your 5 + 1 numbers or take a Quick Pick.
  4. Buy by Tuesday or Friday evening, Asian time, to beat the cut-off.
  5. Check results from noon on Wednesday or Saturday.

Filipino players can also read our Powerball Philippines guide, which covers the US draws in local terms.

Durian tip: Mega Millions and Powerball never draw on the same day in Asia. Put Mega Millions on your Wednesday and Saturday, Powerball on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and you’ve got a jackpot almost every day of the week.

Choosing numbers: keep it simple

Every Mega Millions draw is random, and every combination of 5 + 1 has the same 1-in-290M chance. Charts of “overdue” numbers don’t change that. The only thing your choice affects is how many winners you might share with: birthdays crowd the 1–31 range, so Quick Pick or numbers above 31 make a shared jackpot less likely. Pooling money in a syndicate buys more lines, at the cost of splitting any prize.

Treat each ticket as entertainment money, set a weekly limit and keep to it; our responsible gambling page is there if you need it.
